Moving Towards Constructive Social Media Marketing

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

While exploring the avenues of Internet Marketing, I’ve come across emerging concepts, some just buzzing the World Wide Web, while other leaving no impression and just disappearing from the screen. The life of the concept of course depends entirely on the demand and supply principles and partly changing trends and techniques.

One of these emerging concepts is Social Media Marketing, frequently misused by masses. social_media.jpgWhat actually is the purpose of Social Media Marketing is to keep close connections with societies that has deployed to some extent with the emergence of technologies. This is extremely needed as whatever you’re marketing is solely for masses. Well, that’s a little off topic if I happen to comment on the ethical approaches that are must for SMM. Coming back to the topic, I’ve found an interesting image describing the importance of each tool of Social Media Marketing from http://www.audreycarr.ca . I was in fact searching for a graphical description of Social Media Marketing and how does it work. SO what I’ve outlined out of this image is:

In order to make a constructive use of Social Media rely more on the high potential components, and the potential according to the image, is as follows:

  1. Social Networks
  2. Blogging & Video Sharing
  3. Social Bookmarking & Collaborative Ranking
  4. Podcasts & Wikis
  5. User Reviews & Rating System.

Some Good Blogs Round The Blogosphere

Friday, September 21st, 2007

Being a blogger, reading others’ blogs is as important as writing your own blog is. This is not only to get updated information and to keep in touch with blogosphere, but also post best on your own blog. I myself when reading other blogs do not consider the content only, but the presentation, writing style, writer/reader interaction, design, new features etc as well. And this makes me discover a new thing every time I visit a new blog.

Now a days I’m much in Internet Marketing, researching and analyzing, and off course googling some SEO and Internet marketing blogs. I’ve learnt a lot from these blogs, like DOs and DONTs, strategies and techniques etc. besides that, what I’ve come up with is to develop a different writing style. Being a writer, I’ve always been in quest of polishing my skills, but while being in Internet Marketing, you need something more.

I’ve been reading many Internet marketing blogs for some days, but those, which gimmicked my attention most, were Virtual Marketing Blog and Jim Boykins’ Internet Marketing Blog. The former one is best in explaining point to point, while the later is one I’m in love with the writing style. Recently I’ve a read of SEOs are from Mars Domineers are from Uranus on the later mentioned blog. It’s something worth reading.

Not forcing but just informing visitors/readers here, that if they are looking for some reliable information that is written in structured English and can be easily understood, have a read of some posts on the above mentioned blogs. I’ll keep on writing about some other good blogs as soon as I find them.

Does PR Really Count?

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

I myself being a learner didn’t ever go to an in-depth analysis of SEO tools and techniques, but the thing that I’ve spent most of the time researching about is PR. It was a time when I didn’t know about it and know I know quite enough but still not sure whether I’m right. I, however, will mention the only things I found reading most of the SEO articles and discussing with some SEO gurus as well.

PR (even the experts don’t know, the exact basis on which Google construct this rank thing) according to the analysis of most of the SEO experts is the essence of ‘quality links’ a site has. This quality in fact has more than one dimension, i.e. PR of the site where link has been placed, the quality content there, relevancy of the two sites linking with each other etc. This means if you’re having a backlink at PR +6 site that link will have more value than 100 links at PR2 site or so. Similarly if your link is placed with too many other links and no content is there on that page, the link will probably have no value. And if your site is selling exercising equipment and your link is found a high PR SEO blog, that might be suspicious for SEs and you wont get any credit for that link.

After this short brainstorming, the question that arises in the mind is, is considering only high PR links while link building a wise act? I don’t think so it is, and the justification is what I analyzed above. PR counts but not alone!
